Person of interest in custody in relation to double homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit continues to investigate a double homicide that occurred last week.

At approximately 3:10 p.m., on Friday, April 20, 2018, police were called to the 0 to 100 block of Evanscrest Manor N.W., for reports of gunshots. When officers arrived, they found two individuals deceased in a vehicle.

Autopsies are currently underway by The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and are expected to be completed tomorrow. The identities of the victims will be released once the autopsies are complete.

Last night, on Sunday, April 22, 2018, homicide detectives took a person of interest into custody. Investigators are still interviewing the person of interest and are in the process of gathering a significant amount of evidence related to the homicides.

Although the motive is yet to be determined, police believe that this double homicide was targeted.

Investigators have already spoken with a number of witnesses, however, it is believed that there are friends and associates of the victims who may have information about this incident and have yet to speak with detectives.
