2023 Progress Update

In 2023, we worked hard to deliver results and make life better for Calgarians. We made important progress on the 2023–2026 Service Plans and Budgets. These include advancing actions in housing, public safety, transit and more. We faced increased service demand and complexity, population growth and inflation. Despite these challenges, we achieved significant results. Our progress was responsive and financially-prudent, keeping within our approved budget. Our achievements include honours for our exemplary leadership and innovation practices. We secured 25 international, national, provincial and local awards.

What does this report mean to Calgarians?

The reports allow Administration to be transparent and accountable. It helps inform Council and Calgarians of The City’s progress and challenges towards delivering the service plans and budgets. 

This Progress Update report provides Calgarians with information on:

  • How the community is doing.
  • How The City contributed to their quality of life.
  • The City’s performance.
  • How public funds are spent. 

Council can use this update to assess our performance and provide direction. It identifies areas that may be under or over-performing, allowing for course correction. This progress update is an important input for Council to consider as part of the upcoming adjustments to the 2023-2026 Service Plans and Budgets.

This was previously called the Performance Report. We have made the name change to Progress Update to better reflect the report’s contents.
